| For fifteen years, Nance (born 1953) has been photographing
the essence of African and African-American religion and spirituality. This New York based
photographer is best known for her images of the black Indians of New Orleans, Appalachian
folk musicians, the funeral of an Akan priest, and an African-styled village in South
Carolina. Courtesy: Reflections in Black: A History of Black Photographers from 1840 to Present, by Deborah Willis |
